Our Village Thursday Class provides a day for home school kids who are turning 6 during the school year and up to age 11, to gather for social/emotional learning, forest skills such as archery, whittling, and fire building, winter sports such as skiing and snowshoeing, as well as rotating enrichment opportunities. Our Thursdays provide children with a sense of place and purpose while learning about past and present cultural traditions, hearing oral storytelling, learning words in Ojibwemowin, and connecting with our community through service and field trips. We gratefully share the garden and yurt with the Indigenous Environmental Network, giving students a meaningful experience in the outdoors, learning with our heads, hearts and hands.
Village Thursday can be added to the Monday - Wednesday K-3rd Grade program to round out the older kindergarten through grade 3 students’ week of learning in a mixed age setting, expanding on concepts learned in the K-3rd classroom.
