our Values
Earth Conscious Habits
Our programs are intentionally earth conscious, caring for the earth through use of solar panels, conservation of water, use of real dishes, composting, and gardening. We close for several weeks in the late spring/early summer to give the earth a chance to rest.
Beginning in our Pre-Kinder program, we believe building a relationship with nature is central to a child’s development. Time outdoors teaches children about the Earth’s natural rhythms and cycles, allows them to experience natural phenomena before studying them in a classroom, and fortifies the child’s relationship with and respect for the natural world.
“Give children a chance to love the earth before we ask them to save it.” David Sobel
Wellness and Wonder
Apple Blossom provides children with joyful and meaningful experiences that keep awe and wonder alive! We use a hands on and screen free approach to learning and encourage families to take a limited screen time approach in the home in order for their children to soak up the most benefit from our story rich approach at school. Our family and community festivals such as our Lantern Walk, and Winter Spiral instill reverence and wonder.
In addition, our curriculum encompasses all aspects of wellness, social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and wellness of the spirit through a head, heart, and hands approach to learning.
Sharing Traditions
At Apple Blossom Village we nurture the child’s full human potential. By building on a child’s natural curiosity, sense of wonder and love of learning, the whole child is educated with a head (thinking), heart (feeling), and hands (willing or doing) approach. Pre-Kinder and Kinder offer a play and movement based approach to learning, fostering social/emotional skills and offering time for children to explore their environment. A developmentally appropriate academic curriculum unfolds in the Grades Class over the first through fifth grade years, integrating the cultural, scientific and social life of humanity.
