Learning about Manoomin (Wild Rice)
Our multi-age Thursday Enrichment Class is a perfect compliment to our M - W Grades Class. We take our learning out into the community, guest teachers come to us, or we plan special hands on activities to deepen our learning!
This program is also great as a stand alone class for Home School Students in 1st - 6th grade. We may split into 2 classes of younger students and older students depending on the number enrolled and the topic of the day. We will meet from 9 am - 2:30 pm. Most of our field trips are walking field trips and will begin or end at Apple Blossom for ease of drop off/pick up.
Family Thursday Event December 18th - Winter Traditions, Indigenous Games, Winter Spiral- open to the public $10/family to attend and enjoy activities at Apple Blossom 3 - 6 pm. (Families enrolled in M - Th program can attend free of charge).
Thursday classes meet in 2 sessions, Fall and Spring
Fall Sept 4 - Dec 11 (no class Nov 27) (Oct 16 - Autumn Village Camp - included), (December 18 - Winter Traditions Family Event) 3 - 6 pm, 14 classes
Spring Jan 15 - May 21 - 18 classes (January Thursdays will be at the yurts) (no class March 12)
Sign up for all Thursday classes offered at the discounted rate of $40/class, or drop in to the days that you are interested in for $45/class. Drop ins must pre-register by emailing one week prior to the class.
Morning only option available on our Parks and Rec Days 9 am - noon for $25/time
Apple Blossom enrolled students signing up for M - Th will be offered a further discount with their enrollment.
Concordia Language Thursdays are an additional fee of $10/child, tentatively Oct 30th and April 30th (Snack and Lunch included those days)

Forest Adventure Class held at Lake Bemidji State Park includes hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, mapmaking, and phenology. Generally the 1st Thursday of the month (no class in Jan), Sept 4, Oct 2, Nov 6, Dec 4, Feb 5, March 5, April 2, and May 7.
Cultural Traditions Class will usually be held at the Yurts at Apple Blossom. This Thursday class follows the seasonal cycles of the year with an emphasis on learning about the seasonal activities of Anishinaabe and Indigenous Culture. Anishinaabe and Indigenous Guests will be invited each season to share. Our Apple Blossom Teachers also use resources written by Native authors to teach, and we will cook and eat Indigenous Foods for Lunch (Lunch provided on Traditions Days) Located next to the Indigenous Environmental Garden, we plan to partner for opportunities to learn about seasonal gardening topics and Indigenous cultural perspectives on gardening and our plant relatives. Generally the 2nd Thursday of each month: Sept 11, Oct 9, Nov 13, Dec 11, Feb 12, April 9, May 14.
Parks and Rec Partnership Day will begin at the old Carnegie Library at 9 am for a morning program followed by lunch from home and outdoor play and scavenger hunts in nearby parks. February and March we may end the day inside the visitor center at Paul Bunyan Park or the Carnegie. Generally the 3rd Thursday of the month: Sept 18, Oct 23, Nov 20 - Legos and Art, Feb 19 and March 19 - Winter Activities such as sledding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice skating, broom ball and Art, April 16 and May 21 - Birding and Nature Journaling Techniques.
Community Connection Days held in various local offsite locations or at the yurts. These are field trips that compliment our curriculum. Field trips to local parks, art galleries, museums, local farms, Science Center, Harmony Coop, Concordia Language Villages and more. Most Field Trips will be walking field trips and begin and/or end at Apple Blossom for ease of drop off/pick up. We plan to take our learning further away 3 - 4 times over the school year. Parents would need to provide transportation on those days or we can help connect you to others to carpool. These will happen generally on the fourth and/or fifth Thursday of the month. Calendar of Field Trips for Fall Session will be posted in early August. Sept 25 - West Nary Fruit and Berry Field Trip, Oct 30 (CLV tentative), Feb 26, March 26, April 23, April 30 (CLV tentative)
January Thursdays will be held at the Yurts! Enjoy cozy winter activities in the yurts and ice skating on the lake if weather permits. January 15 - Board Games and Card Games, January 22 - Storytelling and Puppetry, January 29 - Candle Dipping and Crepe making
3 school year camps are open to the public - M - Th enrolled students attend free of charge but must register the week before so that we can plan for numbers.

All Thursday programs include artistic journaling and quiet reflection after lunch and learning social/emotional skills through time for play and exploration. We will combine hands on learning of new skills with recording our learning through discussions and journaling. Pack a small morning snack, a healthy lunch, and a water bottle, and make sure kids are dressed for the weather and ready to get messy!
*Children must be able to be safe with their bodies and words, and be able to follow teacher directions in order to attend.
