Thursday Homeschool Enrichment Day
Visit to a local Apple Orchard
Enrichment Class
Multi-Age 6 - 12 years
Learning about Manoomin (Wild Rice)
Our multi-age Thursday Enrichment Class is a perfect compliment to our M - W Grades Class. We take our learning out into the community, guest teachers come to us, or we plan special hands on activities to deepen our learning!
This program is also great as a stand alone class for Home School Students in 1st - 6th grade. We may split into 2 classes of younger students and older students depending on the number enrolled and the topic of the day. We will meet from 9 am - 2:30 pm. Most of our field trips are walking field trips and will begin or end at Apple Blossom for ease of drop off/pick up.
Thursday classes meet in 2 sessions, Fall and Spring
A schedule of topics and locations for Thursdays will be updated as we move through the school year.
Forest Adventure Class held at Lake Bemidji State Park includes hiking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing, mapmaking, and phenology.
Cultural Traditions Class will usually be held at the Yurts at Apple Blossom. This Thursday class follows the seasonal cycles of the year with an emphasis on learning about the seasonal activities of Anishinaabe and Indigenous Culture. Anishinaabe and Indigenous Guests will be invited each season to share. Our Apple Blossom Teachers also use resources written by Native authors to teach, and we will cook and eat Indigenous Foods for Lunch (Lunch provided on Traditions Days) Located next to the Indigenous Environmental Garden, we plan to partner for opportunities to learn about seasonal gardening topics and Indigenous cultural perspectives on gardening and our plant relatives.
Walking Field Trips Day will begin at the Yurts and we will walk to museums and places of interest in the downtown area. A hiking style backpack is recommended.
Community Connection Days held in various local offsite locations or at the yurts. These are field trips that compliment our curriculum and will require parents to drive their child(ren). Field trips to an Apple Orchard and Concordia Language Villages are planned this year .
January Thursdays will be held at the Yurts! Enjoy cozy winter activities in the yurts and ice skating on the lake if weather permits.
Friday “No School Days” Camps are open to the public and have an additional charge

Folk Dancing with Lenore
All Thursday programs include artistic journaling and quiet reflection after lunch and learning social/emotional skills through time for play and exploration. We will combine hands on learning of new skills with recording our learning through discussions and journaling. Pack a small morning snack, a healthy lunch, and a water bottle, and make sure kids are dressed for the weather and ready to get messy!
*Children must be able to be safe with their bodies and words, and be able to follow teacher directions in order to attend.
*Indigenous Scholarship available while funds last
